There are lots of extras in the clip, and that includes Noah Mills, an actor and model. Back in 2012, Swift's leading man for the video spoke to MTV, discussing his experience alongside Swift. As expected, the atmosphere was easygoing behind the scenes, though there was some pressure given that it was all done in one shot.
Mills revealed, "When I met her and then [director Declan Whitebloom], they very much have this [shorthand]. They like to keep it light and jokey," he explained. "It's really smart, really witty and really quick. It was one take for the whole video, and then they had the band in those animal outfits which they were stoked about. They pitched the idea, and I understood it. The inspiration is pretty obvious."
Mills also compared the behind the scenes atmosphere to a runway show.
"Yeah, they kept bringing that up: 'This is like backstage at a runway show, right?' And yeah, there are some similarities," he said.
Mills added that he was able to pick up character-traits along the way thanks to certain lyrics of the song.
"You hear what the lyrics are saying and think, 'Okay, if you're talking about this album you're listening to that's cooler than mine, I know that I'm listening to some album and subliminally sending some messages that I'm not in love with your music,' so you pick that up and as the character you play it," Noah explained to MTV.

Taylor Swift Admitted 'We Are Never Getting Back Together' Was A Quick Process To Write Behind The Scenes
Swift did reveal that 'We Are Never Getting Back Together' is based on an ex. So finding the inspiration for such a song wasn't difficult. In addition, Swift told MTV over a decade ago that the song came together very quickly.
"[My friend] starts talking about how he's heard [my ex and I] were getting back together and that was not the case," Swift says in the teaser clip. "When he leaves, Max and Johan are like, 'So what's the story behind that?' And so I start telling them the story of 'break up, get back together, break up, get back together,' just, ugh, the worst."
Quickly after, Swift was encouraged to turn the story into a song. "Max says, 'This is what we're writing; we're writing this song,' " Swift recalls. "And I picked up the guitar and just started singing 'we are never.' It just happened so fast. It was so much fun."
